I’ve been under the weather a few days now, and I’ve grown tired of sleeping and watching movies in an effort to recuperate. Heather has been awesome keeping me company even though she’s also been dealing with issues of her own. I’m glad we’re on the mend.
This morning I woke up bolt awake at 5 and rather than put in another movie, I bundled up and went out to the glacier to see what kind of animals I could find. Spending time outdoors and among animals carries a certain peace, almost a spiritual experience. In the past I’ve found porcupine, duck, birds & beavers, but today the only thing I saw was a couple ducks and a sow with three cubs. It was nice to spend time alone with some wildlife, though I’ll admit that going to a viewing area near the glacier isn’t as much of a spiritual experience as I’d like. If I could choose it, I’d simply be out on a hike and find a truly un-habituated creature unimpressed by my presence.
Anyhow, for your viewing pleasure, here’s my favorite image from the day…
